Program Competency - Modified

Core – Complete the following:

Earn a minimum of a “B-” in JATC Program – Student must earn a minimum of a “B-” grade in all JATC courses.  Student must include a copy of their report card or Skyward grade printout that shows all JATC coursework completed up to the time of their portfolio submission.
 

Supplemental – Complete three of the following*:

Industry Certification – Student will achieve an industry certification related to their program of study as certified by inclusion of the certificate or photo of the physical certificate included in the digital portfolio documents.  Students should check with their JATC instructor to learn which industry certifications are available in their program.
 
Career Pathway Completion (Seniors only) – Students must complete all of the coursework in one of the CTE Pathways, submit a Pathway Completer Application, and be awarded a Pathway Completer Recognition.  Pathway Completer Certificates will not be available in time for the Portfolio so students who complete this requirement simply need to mark on their Tracking Sheet that their information for the Pathway Certificate has been submitted and evaluators will verify the qualification. Capstone/Showcase Project Completion – Student will complete a capstone or showcase project as defined and certified by their program instructor on the Student Portfolio Tracking Sheet.  A copy of the project or a one-page description of the project must be included in the student portfolio.
 
Presentation/Skills Demonstration – Student will conduct a formal presentation as defined and certified by their program instructor.  A copy of the presentation or write up describing the presentation must be included in the student portfolio.
 
Student Reflection – Student will complete a student reflection writing assignment and include it in the student portfolio as assigned and certified by their program instructor…or, alternately, student may complete the Writing Reflection Activity for inclusion in the student portfolio.
Clinical/Practicum/Internship Reflection – Student will successfully complete a clinical or practicum or internship experience. The Clinical-Practicum-Intern Reflection Document  must also be included in the student portfolio.

USBE Certification – Student will achieve a USBE certification.  Student can achieve a USBE Certification by successfully completing an end of course skills test.  The certificate issued will be included in the student portfolio.  Students should check with their JATC instructor to learn which USBE certifications are available in their program.
 
Industry Tour - Many students have the opportunity to participate in a tour at a company or place of business as a part of their program at the JATC.  These tours are often offered as a field trip during the school year.  Similar to a job shadow or internship, touring a company and learning about the actual day-to-day work in your chosen field is a valuable experience in career exploration. After attending an Industry Tour, complete the following reflection and include the type-written paper in your portfolio.
