Program Description: 

Design and develop Games Students will learn to Code and Design. This is a great way to find out what your students enjoys in the IT world. Students focus on projects that are specific to game design using Illustrator and Photoshop. Students create sound effects for the games.   Students can earn 7 college credits during the first semester. Students will specialize during 2nd Semester  using HTML5, CSS, and Javascript, C# (Developers during 2nd semester), and Unity. Courses in this program may be taken concurrently with SLCC: Art 1080 Photoshop & Digital Media (4 credits), and Art 2440 Website Design (3 Credits). Students will be required to study for industry certifications Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Animate, Microsoft Intro to Programming using HTML and CSS, and HTML5 Fundamentals. Advanced Students can earn additional industry certifications. 


Program Expectations

Students will work on soft skills and develop an understanding of a professional work environment by earning the JATC Portfolio Medallion. Students must follow Jordan District’s Network Acceptable Use policy (AUP) for internet use, and the extended privileges form. We will learn to create the games that typical students just play. Students will be prepared to enter any college program with a portfolio of work. Students complete multiple games per year for competitions. Students are part of the Technology Student Association, SkillsUSA, and Digital Media Arts Festival.

Melinda Mansouri

Melinda Mansouri is creative, innovative, and goal oriented. She enjoys design work and solving problems using technology. She has been teaching for 24 years for Jordan School District. Melinda has been teaching in CTE for the last 13 years in the subject areas of Digital Media, Game Design and Web Design. Her hobbies include sewing, dancing, traveling, digital scrap booking, cooking, entertaining, and reading (100 pages per hour average). She recently celebrated her 17th wedding anniversary, and has three children Hope 14, Max 12, and Ty 11. Melinda’s favorite color is pink.
