Virtual Learning Transition

Dear JATC Students,

There has been an increase in active cases of COVID-19 within Jordan School District. After discussion in an emergency board meeting last night, a decision was made to move all high schools to online, virtual learning. In accordance with this, JATC classes will begin online virtual learning on Monday November 16th and follow their normal high school schedule. Students may be asked to attend in person related to professional licensing and certification. Students will receive detailed instructions from their teachers concerning attendance in person.

UTA “My BeUTAHful Community” Student Art Competition

We are excited to announce the first year of the new, K-12 student art competition. All students in the state of Utah are invited to submit visual art based on the theme “Meet Your Neighbor.” Submissions will be accepted between February 1, 2021 and March 15, 2021. Congratulations to our Advanced Biotech students for receiving an Honorable Mention at the SheTech Mini Workshop Competition. Abbey VanLeuven, Bailey Attebury, and Kim Everill created a video demonstrating protein manipulation together and were recognized for their impressive efforts! We are proud to call them our students!

Asian American High School Student Conference

The Asian American High School Conference is an annual event where the University of Utah hosts 150-200 high school students from Salt Lake City and surrounding areas, working with them in regards to attending to college, figuring out what to study, and learning how to engage in a community. Potential 4 Year Scholarship to SUU

Students planning to attend SUU in the fall who have a GPA of 3.75 or higher are eligible to apply to be part of the Governor's Honors Academy, taking place this summer, June 19 - 27th. Participants who attend the entire academy earn 6 credits, as well as a 4-year scholarship upon completion of the academy.

SLCC Tuition Waiver Deadline: Feb 1st

The deadline for SLCC Concurrent Enrollment Transition Tuition Waiver is FEBRUARY 1, 2020. Last year we had 92 students who were awarded the waiver and many more who applied and then discovered that they actually qualified for and were reward bigger and better waivers.

As a reminder this is a $1000 tuition waiver spread over two semesters ($500/semester) for students who completed 6 SLCC concurrent enrollment credits, did well in those classes, and who plan to continue on at SLCC. For more info and to apply, go to the link.

CTE Scholarships

The Utah State Board of Education sponsors several university specific scholarships for outstanding students. The application is open and due by January 31, 2020. Awards range from $500 to $2,000. Check the link to see the application requirements for your school of interest. Some require letters of recommendation and/or an essay about personal experiences which will need to be completed in advance of submitting the application.
