Construction Trades

Construction Trades is a hands-on course where students learn the skills and techniques used to build and finish real construction projects. Students will work with professional tools and materials while developing skills in framing, roofing, doors and windows, exterior systems, drywall, interior finishes, flooring, and more. This course is built around hands-on learning, with students spending most of their time constructing real house projects. Through individual and team projects, students will experience the construction process from layout and structural framing through final finishes. The course emphasizes jobsite safety, craftsmanship, teamwork, problem-solving, and the practical skills needed to succeed in the construction industry.

Construction Management

Construction Management prepares students to take on the planning, coordination, and leadership side of the construction industry. Students develop skills in blueprint reading, construction math, estimating, scheduling, budgeting, resource management, communication, and jobsite leadership. Regular industry guest speakers and monthly site visits expose students to suppliers, residential and commercial construction, trade schools, and career opportunities. During the second half of the year, students spend the majority of their time managing a capstone construction project, applying their skills to plan, schedule, coordinate, and lead real project work. The course emphasizes problem-solving, teamwork, professional communication, safety, and the management skills needed for careers and further education in the construction industry.
