Program Description:
Digital Media covers a wide range of creative careers that use skills in graphics, animation, audio, video, and game design. The Digital Media program at the JATC has been broken down into smaller courses that are all building blocks to completing the Digital Media pathway. Each course allows for students to learn new skills, create a digital portfolio, work towards industry certifications, and build leadership skills through participation in TSA and SkillsUSA. Students may take a single block or multiple blocks as their schedule allows.
*Digital Media courses can now be taken as a CTE or an Art credit towards your high school graduation!!!
Introduction to Digital Media
Provides an introduction to a wide variety of skills used in Digital Media such as raster and vector graphics, 2D animation, digital audio, digital video, typography, and general design skills.
When is it offered: 1st Semester, A Days

Introduction to 3D Graphics and Animation
This course will introduce students to 3D modeling, creation and application of textures, mapping, lighting, camera techniques, animation, and rendering of 3D projects.

Advanced Digital Media
This course is designed for students to build on what they learned in DM1 and DM 2. Advanced skills and techniques will be covered as well as creating more in depth projects that will enhance their portfolio.
When is it offered: 2nd Semester, A Days
Prerequisites: Digital Media 1 and Digital Media 2

Advanced Animation
Students in this class will explore careers in animation, learn the animation production pipeline, and develop advanced animation projects for their portfolio. Students may choose between an emphasis in 2D or 3D animation.

Prerequisites for 2D Animation emphasis: Digital Media1 and Digital Media 2
Prerequisites for 2D Animation emphasis: 3D Graphics and 3D Animation 1

Game Design
Designed to provide students with knowledge and project-based experience of fundamental gaming design and development concepts. These concepts include the game development pipeline, game design theory, writing a game doc, character and environment design, game engine software and basic programming concepts, etc.
When is it offered: 2nd Semester, B Days , PM Only!
Prerequisites: Digital Media 1 and Digital Media 2 or Programming is preferred
