Whether you want to begin working right out of high school or pursue a degree, this program will prepare you for these high-paying jobs. Our program focuses on preparing for industry certifications valued by IT departments around the world.

Year 1 (Foudation): The first year of this program will focus on foundational cybersecurity concepts and skills:

- Networking - building a network from scratch including cabling and hardware builds

- Building and maintaining servers Operating Systems, including Linux

- Ethical Hacking concepts and challenges

- CyberPatriot challenges and competition

- CompTIA A+ & Network+ certifications

- Up to 6 college credits

 

Year 2 (Advanced): The second year of this program will focus on advanced cybersecurity concepts and skills:

- Cyber defense & ethics

- Cloud systems & security

- Cyber Forensics & Penetration Testing

- CyberPatriot challenges and competition

- CompTIA Security+ & Cloud+ certifcations; Amazon Web Services certfications, and more!

- Up to 6 college credits

 

A coding background is not needed, but a basic understanding will be very beneficial.

Outcomes
Students will leave with the knowledge and skills necessary to work as an entry-level cybersecurity or IT professional. The average pay for a cybersecurity/IT professional in Utah ranges from $60,000 to $100,000+. The demand is currently so high that hires are often made from other industries, even with little experience! High demand and low supply lead to high compensation!

Program Expectations

Students will be required to study for industry certifications

 

Students must follow Jordan District’s Network Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) for internet use, and the extended privileges form for the JATC

 

Students will design and build computers, servers, networks, and security solutions.

Career Kickstart Cyber: Networking AP (1 high school credit, 3 AP credits, & CompTia Network+ certification)
Computer Systems 1 (0.5 credits, CompTIA A+ exam 1 prep)
Computer Systems 2 (0.5 credits, 3 Concurrent Enrollment credits, & CompTIA A+ exam 2 prep)
 
Year 2 (Advanced)
Cyber Forensics (0.5 credits)
Principles of Cyber Defense Ethics (0.5 credits, 3 Concurrent Enrollment credits, & Security+ prep)
Cloud Computing 1 & 2 (1 credit, & Cloud cert prep)
